…November is next. #stdga

Life keeps flying, and here’s some CAA doings:

I’m very happy to be part of the College ChalkTalk crew this year. My first file: Towson’s decision to drop two sports and revive men’s tennis. It may mean far more than a surface consideration.

As for CCT…Chris DiSano hit on a brilliant idea—have coaches contribute diaries during the season—and he’s supplemented that with full-reaching coverage of college basketball. I highly recommend a bookmark.

Brian Mull, by his words, angered half the fans in the CAA by releasing his preseason predictions. He also dangled a sizzling porterhouse and cold Stella in front of our face by declaring the preseason edition of Colonial X is nearing completion.

Mull inspired John Templon at Big Apple Buckets to weigh in with his preseason picks. My final preseason picks are slated for a Monday release.

And the un-nice news: Mo Cassara has suspended Taran Buie and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel from two preseason events and the first two regular season games for violation of team rules.

Templon, whose blog is very underrated and I suggest you keep checking back, also provides an update on potential good Hofstra news.

Blaine Taylor is on twitter. (@BlaineTaylorODU) I’m not sure anything else really needs to be said. If you haven’t yet ventured to twitter, Taylor’s presence is worth your exploration.

Here’s a quick EuroJourney catch-up on one of my favorite #CAAHoops gunners, Drexel’s Phil Goss. I can still see Goss rolling past two high screens, setting his feet, and swishing a quick-release three.

I don’t know Joe Varela from Adam Ant, but he’s done an outstanding job setting up the season. Here he is with a nonconference primer.

I can’t wait for the season to start. Bring it on. That news about Hofstra’s suspensions…I hope Jerry Beach is okay…

    GO MASON!!

With VCU gone and ODU soon to be gone, I’m surprised anyone would still care about such a third tier conference. The CAA is now barely a half step ahead of the SWAC. Yawn.

  4. Shawn Says:

Whatever, Dave. This conference has survived and prospered through losing teams before…people thought the end was near when Richmond left. UR then sucked in the A-10, until recent success (but, they returned to crappiness last year). The CAA will remain strong.

    GO CAA!!
