Jeff...that 35-33 game was more painful than celebratory...but, I'll take it. As a CAA fan, I hope UNCW is solid this season. The league is always better when the Seahawks are in the running.

UNCW alum, of course I'm trying to jinx Mason...I'm still mad about the 35-33 CAA championship loss from like 10 years ago...but also a CAA fan, and Cam Long is one of my favorites...the guy must have lead the team in almost every category..as a sophomore. You gotta love having the dominant lead guard to take over games

Sure, Sanders is talented. He does have great potential, and he could be something special at the NEXT level. But, honestly...what has he done in the CAA? He's been part of a team that's been near the top of the CAA...but, does he have any NCAA victories? Mason has had a long history of "big men" who didn't have the height or NBA potential of a guy like Sanders, but knew how to rebound, pass, and get to the basket. They were part of TEAMS that did something special.

I look forward to Mason's game with VCU this season - I think we have a bunch of guys down low who will wear Sanders down, get him in foul trouble, and put the game in the hands of VCU's guard (who don't impress me). I may be wrong - after all, Sanders dominated the Patriots in the CAA title game. But, I want Sanders to prove he's ALL WORLD before all this hype is taken as truth.

Jeff: Are you trying to jinx Mason? Please don't!! We need Cam to stay healthy badly...there's not a ton of veteran experience on this team.

I think Cam Long is the 2nd most important player to his team, in the same way that Maynor was more important than Sanders. Its a guard dominated game, and everything runs through them...VCU is a very "different" team without Sanders...especially defensively, but they dont lose as much on the offensive end when he is out.... perhaps not as much of an offensive rebounding presence, but losing Cam Long with such a young team would hurt Mason on both ends of the floor....and I think their offense would really struggle.
