For whatever reason, we’re thrilled at CAA: LAMM that today is Friday. Long week, and I get another stab at saving a lagging golf game tomorrow morning…
Only on a Friday would I offer up some officiating statistics:
- Tony Dawkins called more CAA games (14) than any other official.
- Stop whining about the Levy-inspired over-officious jerks. There were 12 officials who called at least 10 CAA games. Only Brian Dorsey, who is at the bottom of the list with 10 CAA games, called as many average fouls in CAA games as he did in all games. Dorsey averaged 39.5 fouls per game in CAA games and 38.3 in all games.
- Dorsey’s 39.5 fouls per game was also the highest total. The lowest? Tim Nestor, with 32.5.

Mark Cuban is brilliant, and I mean that. You may only know him as the super-involved, referee-chasing owner of the Dallas Mavericks. However I was fortunate enough to meet him when he was “only” the guy running a little outfit called broadcast.com way back in the mid 1990s.
He met with a group of webby folks at the company I was with at the time, and one story he told was priceless. Part of the reason Cuban developed broadcast.com, the precursor to all of this Net audio and video streaming, was because he was living in Texas and wanted to get the radio broadcast of his midwest college basketball games. We’ve had a soft spot for Cuban since that day.

EDIT: thanks to a Rod Barnes tweet, we get his thoughts on Panthers practice. Is it me, or is the kid in the background there on purpose? He’s climbing the stairs, taping the floor, etc. always back there.
Also, thanks to Kish and Mason manager extraordinaire Thuc Phan, we get a look into Mason’s practice progress. Cam Long can dribble against an imaginary defender !!!!!!!!!!!

Also, cleaning the desk: we’ve added a couple blogs, radio stations, and web streaming sites to the Reference section. All help wanted to make sure we get everything CAA listed there.

Final order of business: instead of working the Ghoogles (G: TB special), I’m calling out to Towson fans–anybody know the whereabouts of Jon Pease? For the new readers, Pease is the former Towson forward who has the only jersey hung in the rafters of CAA: LAMM Arena. Pease exhibited over his career every value we claim to have here.
