Ah, flipping the calendar to November, getting an extra hour’s sleep, and scrimmage reports. Yes indeed.

Light first pass. Phone calls to make but this is a busy Monday in terms of billpaying work. Check back if you don’t see Your Team listed.

We won’t really deal with results, as the don’t matter. While these scrimmages are played with regular clocks and officials and game situations, coaches for both teams are looking at specific things and thus will “coach” differently.

Northeastern: looked fluid against Boston College, which you would expect from an experienced team. Freshmen played unafraid but have a ways to come. Manny Adako sat out with an injured foot.

James Madison: Buried three ball after three ball. Andrey Semenov looked healthy, Tre Flores was quality as expected, and freshman Darren White was impressive. Matt Brady has been intrigued by White since the kid stepped on campus. Clearly White could be this year’s version of Julius Wells (from an impact POV), but standby–the freshman wall looms. he Dukes were missing more than 500 pounds of blocksquatting–Daz Thornton is still injured and Den Bowles ineligible until December. Still, consider yourself warned–this bunch is awfully, awfully good.

VCU: Shaka Smart promised fast–the Rams have been practicing with a 14-second shot clock–and they displayed that pace against LaSalle. Larry Sanders showed offensive aggression from outside six inches, and freshman Darius Theus played better in the scrimmage than he had practiced all season.

UNCW: No report yet, but stay tuned for a late day link. Brian Mull promised a Trask campout on Halloween. We’ll put the link right here. We do know three players did not suit up, most notably Chad Tomko. Apparently Tomko has a hairline fracture in his foot.

No report on the scrimmage, but even the Georgia State SIDs are scrimmaging.
