The emails came pouring in last night, every one of them just after the computer had been shut down. I’ve laughed all morning. They ranged from the simple two-word missive (”holy crap”) to the multi-paragraph monsters fueled by exuberance and alcohol.
The best of the bunch came from one of my favorite people. It read:
“I hope [...]

Greatest homer statement ever: the CAA was 4-0 last night in games in which the opposition didn’t score exactly 80 points. They were 0-2 in other games.
Drexel let a five point lead get away late, missing the front end of a one-and-one and then couldn’t get the ball inbounds. Rhode Island got a stickback with [...]

We’re warming up the prediction train…

Six games tonight. Those smarties who choose teevee games win again–the best game, Rhode Island at Drexel, can be found at 7:00pm on The Comcast Network.
Side note: I’m thinking others will be shown via channelsurfing.net, which is to online streaming as David Schneider is to jump shooting. It’s either the [...]

A big night tonight as we roll towards Saturday’s conference openers. We’ll deal with those games later today. We need to address UNCW literally handing away last night’s game at Richmond.
Brian Mull recaps it best–you know, he was there and all–but it was a strange game that you generally only see around Christmas-time. The halftime [...]

First, this is outstanding. The general theme is Sudanese youth being brought to America to play basketball, and its seamy side. Two kids are profiled, and one is Northeastern’s Mathiang Muo. (Thanks to DieHardDogs for the find…).
The conference RPI has crept to #9 and the surrounding statistics–laid out nicely by Brian Mull–”feel” right. And we [...]

Not one clue what you will see here for the next few days. We’ll generally “be around.”
Here’s the wrap up from last night’s 2-2 affair.
We got there in a strange manner, though. Northeastern just doesn’t look good right now. They aren’t playing much defense, which is very unNortheastern. You can get by with a sketchy [...]

Four games tonight, highlighted by ODU vs. Charlotte. (You are officially old school if you still say UNCC and know the arm-chopping chant their fans used to make.) The Monarchs win tonight when Niners coach Bobby Lutz mistakenly channels Jim Zorn instead of Norman Dale, thus running the Swinging Gate instead of the Picket Fence [...]

There may be an argument that I need some help.
In an effort to gauge our progress towards a second bid–and really, that’s what consumes us in December–I consulted my archives and dug up the 12/27/05 CAA Report. Yes, I kept it. Now shut it.
The point today is that the CAA has had a pretty good [...]

We’ll get to today’s action later–but if you have a full day today keep in mind Nor’easter tips off at 3:00pm on ESPNU against St. Mary’s. I’m willing to put aside, for two hours, my jealousy that they are in Hawaii and I am still shoveling snow.

Perhaps specificity is in order when asking Karma for [...]

Tonight’s action is here…I’ll give you the lowdown: Drexel at Kentucky on ESPNU at 7:00, and Hofstra vs. Davidson on MSG at 7:00.
If you don’t get ESPNU (you really should switch to Fios), don’t sweat it. I’m wagering The Family of Networks will show Kentucky going for its 2,000th victory in program history approximately 1,999 [...]
