Games, you know? We’ll get into the Benny Moss firing in due time, because I have some very clear opinions. (Also, Brian Mull has it covered extremely well.) It is important to note that Brooks Lee will take over the Seahawks for the rest of this season.

You also have to remember that Bracketbusters selections are being made on Sunday and revealed on Monday. The funny part: ESPN no longer releases the matchups to the conferences beforehand, with an embargo on dissemination. Apparently we all cackle a little much. So Tom Yeager has to wait until Monday evening like the rest of us.

James Madison at Mason: High noon (as it should be), on your family of Comcast networks. Julius Wells has to work too hard for his shot against mediocre defensive teams, and that doesn’t bode well.

Keep an eye on injuries and depth–Mason has the advantage on both, but may not by game’s end.

Mason 70, Madison 62.

Delaware at Hofstra: Hofstra wins. See Beach. Pride 73, Hens 66.

Towson at UNCW: 6:00 on MASN. This is when the world tells you to stop taking yourself so seriously. You know the Moss firing and UNCWs 39-point loss to Hofstra. You know that Pat Kennedy is, to be gentle, under fire at Towson and the Tigers just lost by 59 to VCU.

Of course these two teams are playing each other, and on teevee. Did you think anything different would occur? Here’s one better: The MASN color commentator is a man named Billy Lee, who–you guessed it–is Brooks Lee’s father.

Brooks Lee (1-0) 78, Pat Kennedy (478-424) 70.

Drexel at William & Mary: Biggest game since 4:00 Saturday in the conference, and as we type this the hope is there that the snow does not force a postponement.

We’ve said this is when we’ll find out about both of these teams.

Dragons 64, Pugs 60.

Georgia State at VCU: Moved to 8:00 for teevee (Comcast). Heard word that Georgia State already made it to Richmond; apparently its now up to the snow removal folks to get the sidewalks clear for this homecoming barnburner.

Not really.

VCU 81, Georgia State 65.

The biggie: Old Dominion in Boston to play Nor’easter.

We’ll dispense with the hyperbole, other than to say these two teams were most everybody’s preseason #1 and #2. Both have held up their end of the bargain, a combined 17-3 in conference.

If you are picking all league teams, Gerald Lee is questionable for first team, and who goes on either the second or third team? Can’t do it, can you? That’s scary.

ODU 58, NU 55.

One Response to “Let’s Get On With This, Shall We?”

  1. Shawn Says:

ODU vs. NE…oops…NU should be classic. Nice ironic twist with the MASN announcer for the UNCW game. I keep expecting someone from the bottom half of the CAA to upset my Mason boys…who knows – it could happen Sat. I hope not, since Madison’s irritating alums usually come in droves to the Patriot Center (they have to come to No. Va. to get jobs, unless they want to look at chicken butts in Harrisonburg). We could slip up in Atlanta or Philly…and that group of games vs. Drexel, VCU, ODU, Bracketbuster (but, not a league game…but, could help resume), Delaware (ok, not scary), and Northeastern scares me. Tons of fun left.

As for the various teams…whoa, that’s a tough one. There’s so many players who have similar stats league-wise…I guess it depends on how the chips fall by the time the tourney rolls around. Of course, I’ll put in a vote for Cam Long for 1st or 2nd team – but, that’s based on recent play…he wasn’t putting up these numbers earlier. I think Pearson and Cornelius both deserve 2nd and 3rd team consideration. Just glad Maynor won’t win player of the year again.
