I can’t disagree. Good choices. But, I’d put Shaver in as coach of the year over Taylor. Taylor’s team was picked to finish 1st.

Sorry, but Cam Long hasn’t played like an all-CAA player this season.

Agree with the choices, other than COY. I think Taylor has a good argument, but Shaver has a GREAT argument.

Glenn…hate to agree…but, I do. He needs a wake-up call. Being left off any of the teams may be it…a lot more was expected. Thomas and Campbell (for the most part) stepped up when they got their chance after the departure of the seniors on the 2006 team – perhaps he will next year.

Glad to see you came back around on GLee.
Shaver for COY.

Where are the all-defensive selections?

Coach–not really coming back around, but more he showed it on Saturday, and you take the whole body of work.
CAAFan–I’m not a huge fan of those…for instance, how do you gauge a shutdown guard (Bazemore, Nixon) against the glamor of blocked shots? I can easily go Sanders, Nwankwo, Ojougboh, Washington, and name another big man. But the Nixons and Bazemores and Allens get shorted.
This is a three year old view, brought on by Jon Vaughan.

I’m going to play devil’s advocate on your ROY choice, Mike. I’ll admit to a certain level of bias as a Mason fan, but I really think Hancock is the better pick because of his overall game.
While it’s true that Fouch is an out-of-this-world shooter, and that’s something Drexel’s offensively-challenged teams have needed for some time, he’s not really an all-around player at this point.
Fouch leads in PPG, but Hancock more than cancels that out with edges in rebounding, assists and FG percentage. He was remarkably efficient for a true freshman playing a perimeter position and even did pretty well handling some PG duties as the season went along. He already sees the court and gets others involved better than any other guard (including Long) on Mason’s roster.
Honestly, I’d prefer either Kanacevic or Williams to Fouch in ROY voting — although both kids benefited tremendously from all the attention given to Jenkins. If, like Jenkins, Long had played at a first-team all-CAA level for more than six or seven games, I think Mason would’ve had a shot at winning the regular season.

Mike…did you list Janning right under Lee for any particular reason?
I was thinking you had a tough time deciding between Lee and Janning.

I’m really curious to read your picks for All-Defensive Team. Come on, get to it! No rest for the weary!

Sorry, have to be the one to disagree with you on your POY choice. Jenkins is great, but who wouldn’t finish strong playing against the bottom half to finish the season. Yes they beat NU once, but they also got smoked by 20 at home. Gotta give it to Chase Allen. 52 percent from the field, 50 from 3, second in assist to turnover. Swept VCU, Mason, beat ODU the only time they faced them. Did Hofstra beat any of those teams? Gotta say you’re wrong on this one, playing Wilmington and Delaware twice down the stretch, and JMU…very easy to finish strong against those studs. But you will be right because he and Janning will split votes because nobody in Bawwwston cares about college sports.
