Brian Mull has the goods on the UNCW coaching search. As the situation develops, he will bring you every nugget you need. However that entire process may be boring; perhaps even over.
You see, I am officially announcing my candidacy for the head coaching position at UNCW.
My 10 Point Plan To Success:
- I play for championships: the 12-year old county team I coach hits the hardwood for the league championship on Saturday. After a humbling 35-6 regular season loss to the Bobcats, we slipped past them 48-44 last week. Oh, you’d better believe that’s 42 points worth of adjustments.
- I have two assistant coaches already on speed dial: Brad Brownell, and Brooks Lee.
- I know all the good restaurants in Wilmington, and will gladly host my coaches show at any of them.
- With my obvious blog bias against Mason, that rivalry will immediately rekindle. Similarly, my VCU friends will scratch their heads. That’s two sellouts right there, and I haven’t even been hired (yet).
- I know what Trask was, but more importantly, what it can be.
- I’ve been angling for this for five years. All those other guys with their “coaching experience” and “ability to recruit” are Johnny-come-latelys. You need somebody dedicated.
- I will create a CAAZone Advisory Group for all matters requiring deep thought and vociferous argument that includes name-calling.
- I have two hobbies: college basketball and golf. You bet I’ll smack it around with alums.
- I will hire John Gasaway as the school’s Basketball General Manager, and we will tempo free ourselves past budget constraints.
- I will immediately petition the NCAA for three more years of eligibility for Brett Blizzard and Craig Callahan, under the little-known alliterative name extra eligibility rule. I admit John “Greg” Goldsberry is iffy.

You’re a funny, funny man Litos. Of course, I would love to see a renewed Mason/UNCW rivalry.

[...] I’ve got a summer’s worth of par fives to figure out what we’ll do on Game Day, 2010-2011. Feel free to toss some suggestions, seriously, because the whole point is to actually deliver content you want. (This is only relevant if UNCW doesn’t hire me as its head coach.) [...]
