It’s February The Second and after tonight we’ve played two-thirds of the conference schedule. My inner McEnroe is screaming “you have GOT to be kidding me!”

Programming notes: we’re piled high with MPH work today, so there may be a few quick hitters instead of a long and winding road. Also, we’ve nearly worked through our post on Players Coaches Want. Can’t wait to get that out to you.

Finally, we’ve decided to start a sort of Unsung Heroes series. We know of two already, and would love to hear from you with nominations. It could be a grad intern in Your Team’s sports information department, a fan with heavy travel, or whatever. You tell me.

The point: we all love this conference and Our School, and some folks get it done every day and could use a little pat on the back. Nothing more, nothing less. Every now and then it’s just nice to recognize those who make our lives better and don’t seek attention.

That said, we’ve noticed that Vegas provides four double-digit spreads in our six games; you know, as entertainment-enhancers.

So we don’t think we’re going out on a limb to say Old Dominion will exact a measure of revenge on Delaware. It’s interesting to note that we are the only ones saying that. Blaine Taylor rarely talks about the other guy or the past. He prefers to concentrate on his guys and today’s tactics.

Plus, Fonzie Dawson continues to be suspended and we’ll reach out to Monte Ross for an update later today.

We have a confirmed Towson sighting in Philly, so tonight’s Tigers/Dragons matchup is presumably a go. No word on Pat Kennedy getting a new trench coat. Keep an eye on FGA tonight for Drexel–it could be a school record. The Dragons win easily.

The Dukes are hazardous. Last week JMU both blew a big second half lead to lose and came back from a big second half deficit to win. Good luck getting any kind of flow from them.

We will say that The Pugs are without Tim Rusthoven, and Quinn McDowell may not play with various old man injuries. (Translation: he’s banged up from a rough season so far.) JMU wins big, but at some point gives up a 14-2 Pugs run to drive Matt Brady crazy.

VCU made it safely to Boston, a place they’ve never really played well. This is an interesting gauge-the-emotion game. Cold and snowy, roadie against a 3-8 team, playing with confidence. Hmmm.

NU clearly needs to score exactly 70 points to win. Won’t happen, but this game is closer and lower-scoring than you think. VCU 64, NU 59.

Georgia State has lost seven in a row and UNCW lost five of six. I feel like we’re going to see a lot of Eric Buckner and Matt Wilson tonight, and that favors the Panthers. GSU also may get Devonta White back.

Finally, Chad Tomko has not had a horrible game yet–he deserves a massive pat on the back for that, but doesn’t it have to happen at some point? GSU wins 66-60.

And we have the Mason/Hofstra matchup, which we’ll get into a little bit later today…in case we don’t get back, Mason will win and we were shocked that the casinobuilders put this one in double-digits as well. More shocking: I don’t know that they are wrong.
